MY WEBSITE TURNS ONE!

I'm beyond thrilled to realize that my website launched ONE YEAR AGO TODAY! A lot has happened within those 365 days.  From quitting my day job, traveling all over the world -- I had the most wonderful and life changing year.

I want to thank those that have supported me during this crazy transitional year - my husband Nate, my parents, sister, extended family, my new Schutte/Downing family, my Roxborough Tribe, and my beautiful loyal (ride or die) friends.  Thank you for being there when I needed to vent.  Thank you for all of your advice.  Thank you for everything.  I'm truly appreciative.

I'm excited to see where life and Officially Merried takes me during 2018.  I am still booking and taking referrals for this year so please send my info to anyone you know planning a wedding --officiallymerried@gmail.com

                                                                        Officially yours,

                                                                        Meredith

Videography - GB Multimedia Edition

We have all seen the beautiful wedding videos of our friends and family on Facebook.  And I'm pretty sure we can all agree that they look AMAZING! It's a super fun way to share your wedding with people who were unable to attend.  It gives you the whole day in just a few minutes.  Usually I cry.  But why then are they the first vendor to end up on the chopping block when it comes to budget cuts?

I had a chance to speak with Gina Benigno from GB Multimedia about her work, and from a non-biased person (ME), YOU SHOULD HIRE A VIDEOGRAPHER!

· Company Name: GB Multimedia

· Booking contact: Gina Benigno

· Package Price Range: $1500 - $3250

· How did you get into the media business? I started shooting and editing video in high school, with the ultimate career dream to become reporter. When I got to college, my passion shifted from journalism to the more creative side of multimedia storytelling. In 2014, a friend of mine recommended me to film her friend’s wedding. Ever since then, I’ve been hooked!

· What is your favorite wedding moment to capture and why? I love capturing the real, candid moments that happen on a couple’s wedding day. A “first look” or a private moment of the couple reading a letter or opening a gift add those personal and heartfelt touches that cannot be staged or recreated. It gives the viewer an inside look into the couple’s love story. I particularly love capturing a bride's or groom's reaction as they watch their partner walk down the aisle. Whenever one of them cries, it takes everything in me to keep the camera steady!

· Who is one of your favorite wedding vendors to work with? (Could be photographer, venue, caterer, band/dj -- anyone!)

Photographer: Stacey Salter Moore of SSM Photography Stacey is an incredibly talented photographer. She’s local to the Philly area but travels the world for a variety of really cool clients. She’s got a special place in my heart – She’ll be shooting my wedding in October 2018.

DJ: Michelle, Lee of Michelle Lee Entertainment. She is so much fun to work with and will have your dance floor packed all evening!

· What would you say to a couple who is on the fence about hiring a videographer for their wedding day? The challenge with video is that it’s usually the first thing couples cut from their budget and the first thing they regret not having when they look back on their wedding day. I’m currently planning my own wedding and can totally relate to this. Why? Photographers are expensive. Photos are also super important. So, video naturally takes a back seat. The only thing I can recommend is for clients to see video as more than just a bunch of clips strung together. Today’s wedding videos have evolved into so much more than that. When choosing your videographer, as with any vendor, it’s critical to ask to view completed samples of that company’s work before signing a contract with them. Every person’s style and budget are different, and a good vendor should be willing and ready to work with you to tell your story in a way that 100% represents you!

· What would you say sets you apart from other videographers? I’m really big on incorporating sound (other than music) into my wedding films. I’ve seen videos out there that are visually beautiful, but lack the reactions and feelings from some of the relatives and friends who mean the most to couple. It’s one thing to see a beautiful wedding, but it’s a whole different story when you get to hear it, too! I take great care in crafting each wedding story I am lucky to be a part of. I cry through almost every edit, and I’m proud to admit that! I really love what I do.

8 Reasons to Love Food Truck Weddings

Trends come and go, but I’m hoping the Food Truck Fad never dies! I consider them culinary geniuses on wheels.  The food truck phenomenon has taken Philadelphia and the world by storm! With festivals dedicated to these delicious vehicles, it is easy to find the food truck that can cater your wedding needs.

8 Reasons to Love Food Truck Weddings

  1. My favorite reason would definitely be that you are supporting a small and local business.  The entrepreneurs behind the food truck are artists that are more than likely working day and night to provide our community with a delicious and sometimes healthier alternative to fast food!

  2. Special, unique and fresh food! Like snowflakes, no two food trucks are the same! Even though there are probably 1000’s of food trucks that fire up brick oven pizzas, they all have their own flare and specialties!  Their food is incredibly fresh since they deal in small batches!

  3. Late night food to go at your wedding is a great pick me up! Have a food truck for the guests at the end of the night to grab a philly pretzel, cheesesteak, or maybe some ice cream! You’re guests will be very happy to have something to sustain them on the trip home or intoxicated in their hotel room!

  4. Showcase local cuisines.  As mentioned in number 3, local cuisines are always a fan favorite.  Some Philly faves include roast pork sandwich, hoagies, cannoli’s, soft pretzels, philly cheesesteaks, water ice, or gelato! Maybe the couple hails from a different background and would like to find a food truck that takes them back to their childhood -- the options are honestly endless and you can find something that tastes like home!

  5. So many options! Buffet, served, window service.  Most food trucks are able to cater and bring things to set up a buffet.  Hire a great service like Swig (www.swigevents.com) and have them pass out hors d'oeuvres, OR have your guests grab their food at the food truck window -- make sure that you have a few options if you have a lot of guests.  Long lines can be a pain.

  6. Affordable since they have a lower overhead.  Most food trucks will charge much less because they are not supplying linens and other set up material.  Make sure to work closely with the food truck to make sure you aren’t missing anything.  Generally though, your costs are lower than a caterer.

  7. Clean up is a breeze! In my experiences, clean up was fast and easy! Most use disposable plates and silverware, which obviously aren’t the most environmentally friendly, but you can literally be done in 15 minutes or less!

  8. Finding your food truck is FUN! There are so many festivals now dedicated to food trucks! My favorite is the bi-annual StrEAT Food Festival in Manayunk! Check out Manayunk.com for more information! (www.manayunk.com)
